KREWE OF OMEGA OFFICIAL PARADE RULES AND INSTRUCTIONS
Report Time: Krewe Members: 4:00 P.M.
Community Parade Entrants (floats and cars): 4:30 P.M.
Bands, Walking and Dance Groups: 5:00 P.M.
Place: SLU University Center Parking Lot East
Lineup and Disbanding – Parade begins and ends at SLU University Center Parking Lot East
NOTE: Due to safety precautions and expansion of parade viewing beyond the Chamber of Commerce toasting stand, early disbandment from the parade will not be allowed.
Parade participants must use parade theme or use “Mardi Gras” as their decoration theme. The parade is about showing our community’s Mardi Gras spirit.
No undecorated floats or automobiles will be allowed in the parade with the exception of classic autos. This does not apply to automobiles pulling floats or to antique automobiles.
Height of floats cannot be taller than 12 feet.
Check with Parade Marshal upon arrival to be assigned position in parade.
Parade Marshal will direct participants to position in parade lineup.
Smoking or alcohol NOT allowed during the parade.
Drivers must maintain a 2-car length distance between your vehicle and the next entry. (Per Hammond Police: If your entry cannot keep up with the parade, you will be removed by the City of Hammond’s Police Department.)
NOTE NEW THIS YEAR: No one under the age of eight may walk in the parade, per the City of Hammond Police Department.
The Krewe of Omega Mardi Gras parade is a family oriented event.
We are guests of Southeastern Louisiana University.
All parade participants and float riders are to be considerate of the SLU campus. Please take your trash and bags with you. This will be strictly enforced.
Vulgar or uncensored music is not allowed.
Music will be monitored before and during the parade. Violators will be asked to leave the parade.
Getting off and on of parade vehicles during the parade is not allowed. This will be strictly enforced.
Throws –Do not throw any food items.
Printed cups, Frisbees, etc. are acceptable, but printed flyers or coupons are not allowed.
